Going Green To Save Serious Money

Over 1,000 homes served in over 40 years of business

“This is the year that we’re getting really serious about our lifestyle,” Whitney said. “We’ve purchased our first home, spent a couple of years getting settled in, learned about our neighborhood and ourselves – now that we know what works and what doesn’t, it’s time to make some changes.”

One of the things Whitney loves about her Weymouth home is the big windows, but she’s not nearly as enamoured of the many drafts they let through. “It can get really chilly, especially in the front room where the children like to play,” she explained. “I’m always cranking the heat up, up, up and that’s no good.”

Over the summer, Whitney had her old leaky windows taken out and vinyl clad replacement windows put in. “We chose the vinyl clad replacements for three reasons,” she explained. “The first is the no maintenance, inside or out. We have three kids, and I really appreciate that the interior windowsills and frames just wipe clean, no matter what the kids have done. Pricewise, the vinyl clad were the best deal, especially given the high quality. And of course, no drafts means I can run the heat a lot less, saving our family a ton of money.”

She laughed. “Yes, it’s also the best choice for the environment. We all need to try to conserve energy and do our part to fight global warming. My kids will be the first ones to tell you that – they love polar bears. We’re making sure this place is properly insulated, and probably this spring will have our front door replaced with a more energy efficient option. Every little bit helps!”
